Results of Feedback to the Geographical Names Board

4 March 2024

The NSW Geographical Names Board (GNB) sought public feedback between 8 December 2023 and 12 January 2024 on the proposal to rename the suburb of Yellow Rock to Yellow Rock Ridge.

No objections were received during the advertising period. The GNB will not need to reconsider the proposal and can proceed to amend the name. Discussions with the GNB Secretariat have confirmed that the suburb of Yellow Rock was renamed to Yellow Rock Ridge by gazette on Friday 1 March 2024.

Immediately following gazette, Council will inform all affected residents and landowners by letter of the suburb name change and their new address.

Additionally, Council will advise certain authorities on residents behalf by supplying a list of old versus new addresses. These authorities are:

  • NSW Addressing (Spatial Services – NSW Address Database)
  • Australia Post Addressing
  • Australia Post Local Delivery Centre
  • NBNCo
  • Sydney Water
  • Endeavour Energy
  • Telstra
  • Australian Electoral Commission

Following is a table describing the Responsibility Breakdown when suburb changes are approved.

A table which delineates different affected stakeholders and their respective roles and responsibilities in reference to the suburb name change.

This concludes the process to change the name of the suburb of Yellow Rock to Yellow Rock Ridge.
