About the project

Shellharbour is growing and changing. As our city becomes busier and summers get hotter, trees and green spaces play an important role in keeping our neighbourhoods cool, healthy and enjoyable.

We’re creating a Greening Strategy to guide how trees and green spaces are protected, grown and managed across the city.

We want your help to shape it.

There are two ways to have your say.

This page includes a short survey and an interactive map where you can tell us what matters most and show us where shade and greenery are needed.

Why greening matters

Trees and green spaces help to:

  • Cool our streets and public places
  • Improve health and wellbeing
  • Support local wildlife and biodiversity
  • Create more comfortable neighbourhoods
  • Reduce heat during extreme weather

Shellharbour currently has lower tree canopy cover than many neighbouring areas. Increasing greenery now will help create a cooler, healthier city into the future.

What this feedback will help shape

Your feedback will help Council to:

  • Identify priority areas for new trees and shade
  • Understand community values and concerns
  • Decide where future greening projects should focus
  • Inform the draft Greening Shellharbour Strategy

Community input will be combined with technical studies and local data to guide decisions.

The Strategy aims to:
