As the Tripoli Way Extension project progresses towards early works, an update was provided to Council at its meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
The report detailed progress on the detailed design, environmental approvals, and property acquisition.

Highlights in the report include:

Detailed Design

  1. Council has engaged engineering consultants to develop the detailed design for the project. Work underway includes geotechnical investigation, design optimisation review, and preliminary design development for road and stormwater infrastructure.
  2. Technical consultation is also underway with key stakeholders including Sydney Water and Transport for NSW.
  3. Council will soon seek Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified contractors to carry out construction.

Environmental Approvals

  1. A heritage consultant has prepared the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Investigation Report (ACHAR).
  2. The consultant is also preparing the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which is expected to be completed mid-2024. Once complete, a Council resolution will be sought for the document to be placed on a 28-day public exhibition from 29 May 2024.
  3. An engineering consultancy has been engaged to provide a peer review of the development of the detailed design and assist in managing the environmental approval process

Property Acquisition

  1. NSW Public Works and Council officers are advancing the partial acquisition of properties essential for the road corridor for the Tripoli Way Extension.
  2. Council are continuing to work with the design consultant to review the existing design to further reduce the number and scale of acquisitions required.
