Healthy End of Life Project (HELP)

Thinking about the end of life is not easy but it is very important. We want to encourage our community to think about this topic over the next couple of months and tell us what a healthy end of life looks like to you.

The experience of end of life has a big impact on all of us at many times throughout our own lives and how we get support and offer support for others is something to think about now- even if you are young or just young at heart!

So what is a Healthy End of Life Project?

The healthy end of life project aims to create opportunities for collaboration and networking within our community. That will:

  • Identify barriers to asking for and providing help and looking at ways to change this.
  • Explore current and potential assets in the City who could be more involved in supporting the community around end of life.

The information collected will help inform a number of strategies and plans being developed by Council including the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan and Age-Friendly Strategy.

Check out our HELP Videos

As a result of listening to the communities feedback about end of life, we now have these short films which share people's stories of being part of another's end of life journey. These videos talk about death and dying and how these experiences have enriched and added to the way the people telling their story view life. This may be confronting to some- viewer discretion is advised.

The purpose of these videos is to open the conversation for all of us to talk more about death and dying in our community as we journey with people through end of life.
