Construction on hold

17 August 2021

Stakeholder feedback supported the relocation of amenities closer to the main footpath. During the initial site testing, the project team discovered a potential heritage item. To ensure the area was properly investigated Council appointed Austral Archaeology to complete an Aboriginal Cultural Assessment and Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit. This is currently been assessed by Heritage NSW.

Construction of the amenities building has been on hold while Council works with experts, to conduct extensive cultural and heritage studies.

Through this process, the preferred location of the proposed amenities building has moved to a recommended site just east of the footpath (see plan below).

We have now entered the final stage of due diligence before construction begins, meaning the project is on track to begin construction in 2022.
