Project FAQs
The old tennis court at Dawes Park provided a unique opportunity to establish another recreational space within the reserve. The type of recreational space selected has been informed by customer enquiries and interest from the community regarding an additional basketball facility in the LGA.
The new court aims to be accessible and inclusive for all users. To make it more accessable the court will feature fencing and a smooth and level playing surface.
On-street parking is available along Junction Road, Beach Road and Barrack Avenue. Off-street parking is available on the northern side of the court.
At this stage, there are no plans to include functional fitness equipment at Dawes Park. We have existing fitness equipment stations located nearby to Dawes Park (see image below) and additionally throughout the LGA.
The court is intended to be a daytime facility and therefore lighting will not be provided.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It is a game that is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels.
Participants must bring their own net, paddles, and balls when playing at this venue. The court has been marked to create three pickleball-sized playing areas.

There are two sections for you to vote in. The first will be to select the type of court we upgrade the Dawes Park court to. The second is to help select the additional features of the court, so let us know what you would like to see included.
