This Plan of Management (PoM) applies to Little Park, Shellharbour Reserve and some foreshore land situated on Crown reserves R48243 and part of R580065 (also known as Bassett Park), Wollongong Street, Shellharbour. The area incorporates a playground, amenities, picnic facilities, access road and parking throughout the site, part of Beverly Whitfield Pool and the foreshore land surrounding the Shellharbour Beachside Holiday Park. We know this is an important community space, and the PoM seeks to protect this community use.

Note: The remainder of Crown reserve R580065 (Shellharbour Beachside Holiday Park) will have a separate site-specific plan of management.

A Plan of Management is a legal document prepared in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 over land that is classified as ‘community land’. It establishes directions for planning, resource management and maintenance of the land. PoMs categorise land, authorise leases, licences or granting of any other estate, and determine the types of development that may take place. Further, a PoM identifies the key values of the land and its purposes so they can be protected and enhanced.

Council’s vision for this site recognises the long-term use as socially, culturally and physically enhancing the community. The site will be managed and maintained according to the categorisations of Park and Natural Area – Foreshore as detailed in this Plan.

Please note: This draft PoM does not include development proposals, changes to current uses, or changes to general maintenance schedules of the site.
