Playground design revealed!

We’re excited to share the new playground design for your local park. The refreshed layout brings together fun, accessibility and bright Tropicana‑themed elements to lift the whole space. It keeps the much‑loved feel of the park while adding new play opportunities, safer surfacing and improved comfort for parents and carers. Alongside the new playground, the surrounding parkland will also receive upgrades to improve its overall look, feel and accessibility.

These additions include:

  • Multi play unit with junior slide, older kids’ slide, agility elements and monkey bars
  • Turtle rocker and spinner
  • Balance‑beam items
  • New swing set with a Nest Swing, “You and Me” toddler swing and sling seat
  • Shaded seat with backrest and sandstone log seating
  • Mix of rubber and mulch surfacing, with rubber paths connecting inclusive play items
  • DDA Compliant /Accessible footpath connecting the park to the street

About the project

About the Project

Sparta Park (also known as Sparta Street Park) is a 'local' park located in Warilla, nestled between Sparta Street and Arcadia Street. This small green space sits within a residential area and provides a place for nearby residents, families and children to enjoy outdoor recreation close to home.

As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and welcoming public spaces, Sparta Park is planned for renewal through the 2025/26 Capital Works Program. Recent inspections have identified that the existing play equipment has reached the end of its serviceable life and will need to be removed ahead of the park upgrade.

The proposed renewal will include like-for-like play equipment, along with new inclusive and nature play elements and general site improvements. The upgrades aim to create a refreshed, safe and accessible space that reflects the needs of the local community and supports everyday play and enjoyment.
