Shellharbour City Council continues to make significant progress on the Yellow Rock Road Upgrade in Tullimbar, with a major milestone approaching being the completion of the new road pavement and upgraded intersections between Hereford Chase and Araluen Terrace.

Yellow Rock Road upgrades are starting to take shape as with kerb and gutter, utility and pavement works completed from Wongawilli Street to Araluen Terrace. Utility relocation and stormwater drainage works are continuing to progress between the Illawarra Highway and Araluen Terrace.

To safely facilitate the asphalting works between Hereford Chase and Araluen Terrace, there will be full road closures on 1 and 2 September 2026. Cleary Bros. will be in touch with directly impacted residents to ensure access to those properties are maintained. Once the road re-opens, this will mark a huge milestone for the works with the road surface completion between Hereford Chase and Araluen Terrace.

Council is also informing the community that further scope relating to the project has been approved and will proceed in addition to the current upgrades. Based on feedback from the Community Consultation sessions in December 2025, Council has furthered traffic calming investigations for the Yellow Rock Road and Paul Circuit intersection, progressing the delivery of a roundabout at this location.

The roundabout will help traffic calming measures at this intersection, provide safer right-hand turns from Paul Circuit to Yellow Rock Road and introduce kerb blisters to better manage speeds along Yellow Rock Road. Preparation works will commence after the asphalting works are completed between Hereford Chase and Araluen Terrace.

The total project program is now expected to continue through to November 2026, however, some sections of the project will move to completion and be open under traffic control speeds with final line marking and signage to be installed at the completion of the project.
