Families in Shellharbour now have a new destination for play and recreation, with an exciting new play space officially opening at Terry Reserve, Albion Park. The new playground promises a dynamic and inclusive space designed to meet the needs of children of all abilities, and it’s all thanks to valuable community feedback that helped shape its design.

Shellharbour City Mayor, Chris Homer, was joined by fellow Councillors to unveil the new playground, which offers a range of engaging play experiences including a shaded tower and shopfront, an accessible see-saw, kanga rocker, voice tubes, and a premium double bay swing. Shade sails provide shelter from the sun, while native trees and shrubs have been planted to provide natural shade.

Families can sit and relax on various formal and informal seating, or enjoy a brisk workout on the fitness equipment, then hydrate at the nearby water station.

Mayor Homer commented on the project, saying, “The new playground at Terry Reserve has been designed with both fun and comfort in mind. We’ve made sure to include plenty of shaded areas, so families can spend time outdoors, whether they’re playing or simply relaxing. This project highlights our commitment to creating spaces that are not only accessible and inclusive but also comfortable for everyone in the community.”
