The new Shell Cove Library will be located within the two-story Waterfront Centre, prominently positioned by the harbour and "kids beach." Designed by Smart Design Studio, the library occupies the entire second floor, offering panoramic views of the Marina. This community building aims to serve as a vibrant cultural hub, fostering connections among the local community and Waterfront visitors.

The building will house:

• The Shell Cove Library
  • Integrated smart technology and WIFI throughout the building
  • Flexible areas for meetings, study, reading or workshops
  • Comfortable seating and a place to chill or socialise
  • Feature staircase that doubles as informal seating area
  • Fully accessible lift
• The Visitors Information Centre (VIC)
• Function and meeting rooms
• Public amenities

Following preparation works, construction is expected to start in December 2024. Works will continue in 2025 with the opening of the facility anticipated in early 2026.

The Libraries and Museum Strategy identified that a larger library would be required to adequately service the needs of the growing communities in Shellharbour Village, Shell Cove and surrounding areas.

The Library will replace the existing small library in Shellharbour Village.

We will be working with our customers during the transition period to the new library. Not only do our libraries have a physical presence, we have Home Library Service or you can access our digital collection online 24/7.
